Depression isn’t just “the blues.” Depression is a serious condition that, left unchecked, can lead to isolation, feelings of worthlessness, and even suicidal thoughts—or worse.
One of the real challenges of depression is that it distorts our cognitive processes—our ability to think clearly. Depression both clouds our thoughts, and prevents us from seeing through the clouds. For example, when someone is depressed they may feel that their friends have abandoned them, and really believe that this is true. In actuality, they may have been the ones to withdraw from their social supports—and at a time when they needed them the most.
My approach to improving symptoms of depression is holistic and relational. As we work together, we engage your thoughts, your physical habits, your emotional patterns, and—perhaps most important of all—your values, to restore you to your best self.
